All you need to know about Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore

Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald's growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?

Yes, the third instalment of the Harry Potter sequels series is nearly upon us!

As ever, with a new release imminent we have been on the search for the skinny on our favourite films. Here is what we have gleaned ahead of its release on April 8.

The cast list is:

  • Eddie Redmayne - Newt Scamander
  • Katherine Waterston - Tina Goldstein
  • Dan Fogler - Jacob Kowalski
  • Alison Sudol - Queenie Goldstein
  • Jude Law - Albus Dumbledore
  • Mads Mikkelsen - Gellert Grindelwald
  • Ezra Miller - Credence Barebone/Aurelius Dumbledore
  • Callum Turner - Theseus Scamander
  • Poppy Corby-Tuech - Rosie
  • Victoria Yeates - Bunty
  • Jessica Williams - Eulalie Hicks

David Yates has held our hand on the Potter journey since Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix (2007), right up until Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and is once again on board as director for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022).

The latest instalment, we are told, picks up directly after the events of the second film The Crimes of Grindelwald, which gives the greatest indication that Dumbledore, played by Jude Law, is to take on a bigger presence within the new adventure.  This excites us because hopefully we will learn a little more about the elusive and mysterious wizard!

Mads Mikkelsen takes over the role of Gellert Grindelwald from Johnny Depp, which is inspired casting, with Mikkelsen oozing the perfect evil eccentricity. We know that Grindelwald will begin his rise to power and start his oppression of all Muggles, telling Dumbledore "With or without you, I'll burn down their world."

Of course for a Fantastic Beasts adventure we need Newt Scamander and joining him again is his older brother, Theseus, played by Callum Turner. Regarded as a war hero for his bravery in the First World War, Theseus became Head Auror during the global wizarding war.

There has been a flurry of posters building the excitement leading up to the release of the film including posters with Albus Dumbledore, Newt Scamander, Jacob Kowalski, Theseus Scamander, Gellert Grindelward, Credence / Aurelius, and Teddy the Niffler and Pickett the Bowtruckle!
