What's on the big screen this October?
October is here! The summer sun will be drawing away and the nights appearing to be upon us quicker, but here at Showcase we are shining the light on a cracking month of cinematic goodness.
We look forward to some of the new delights on offer in October we are also still showing films that many of you have loved, such as Don’t Worry Darling, Smile, Mrs Harris Goes To Paris and Ticket to Paradise.

The Lost King
Directed by Stephen Frears
The upcoming British comedy-drama film, The Lost King, is directed by the acclaimed Stephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons (1988), The Queen (2006), Florence Foster Jenkins (2016), Victoria & Abdul (2017)) and written by Steve Coogan and Jeff Pope. The film tells the tale of the 2012 discovery of King Richard III's remains in a Leicester car park.
The Lost King stars Sally Hawkins as amateur historian Philippa Langley, Steve Coogan as her husband John and Harry Lloyd as King Richard III.

Emily
Directed by Frances O’Connor
Mansfield Park (1999) actress Frances O’Connor marks her cinematic debut with Emily, the biopic of English novelist Emily Brontë, which O’Connor has also written the screenplay for.
Emily Brontë tragically died in 1848, aged just 30 and is famed for her only book, Wuthering Heights.
Emily Brontë is played by Emma Mackay (Death on the Nile (2022) and co-stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Fionn Whitehead and Adrian Dunbar

A nun prepares to perform an exorcism and comes face to face with a demonic force with mysterious ties to her past.
Jacqueline Byers stars as the young Catholic nun Sister Ann in Prey for the Devil, alongside Virginia Madsen and Colin Salmon. The film also marks the last screen appearance for Ben Cross (Chariots of Fire (1981)) who sadly passed away just after wrapping his part in Prey for the Devil.
