Rihanna Shares New Song For Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Yes! We are getting a lift this Friday  with the news that Rihanna has shared her new song “Lift Me Up”. It is to be featured on the forthcoming soundtrack, composed by Ludwig Göransson to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is to be released on November 4, followed a week later with the release of Ryan Coogler’s film.

“Lift Me Up” is her first full solo song in six years, since “Sledgehammer”, which featured on the Star Trek soundtrack in 2016 and full-length album “Anti”; so reasons for cheer!

Listen to the song

Rihanna has written “Lift Me Up” with Tems, producer Göransson and Googler, as a tribute to the late and dearly missed Chadwick Boseman. Also released simultaneously is an instrumental version of the track. Rihanna’s own Westbury Road label is releasing “Lift Me Up” in partnership with Roc Nation, Def Jam Recordings and Hollywood Records.

Tems recently spoke about the song, “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honour.”

All great news as we lead into the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Its predecessor, Black Panther (2018), was not only a huge box-office and critical success; it also became the first ‘superhero film’ to win an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. It would go onto win Oscars for Costume Design, Soundtrack and Production Design.  So the scene is set for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to be an even bigger smash!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is released at Showcase Cinemas November 11
