MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL

Clint Eastwood directs this stylish adaptation of John Brendt's bestselling novel. In Savannah, Georgia, Socialite antiques dealer, Jim Williams (Kevin Spacey) is throwing his annual Christmas party. Covering the party for Town & Country magazine is New York Writer John Kelso (John Cusak).

Before the night is out, a murder has been comitted and William stands accused of killing his young male lover. What happened on that night, was it self defence? Kelso sets out investigate, deciding to expand his magazine article to a full-scale book, following the murder and court case.

As he noses around Savannah, Kelso meets more of the strange mix that form local society, the well heeled, the wealthy, characters such as The Lady Chablis, the towns' transvestite singer and the mysterious Voodoo-Queen.

Kelso documents the happenings in the town and courtroom, watching events with a less than detatched eye, as Williams' lawyer, Sonny Seiler drives the case around increasingly complex and eccentric avenues.

A fascinating study into small town American decadence, Eastwood has created a visually striking film, laden with atmosphere. This is a film that will slowly but surely draw you in.
