ENTERTAINMENT GIANT NATIONAL AMUSEMENTS
BRINGS “CINEMA DE LUX” TO BRISTOL

Exhibition leader, National Amusements, announced plans today to bring its revolutionary movie-going experience, known as “Cinema de Lux”, to the new Bristol Broadmead development being undertaken by the Bristol Alliance, a partnership between Land Securities Plc and Hammerson.

The Bristol Cinema de Lux which will be over 9,300 sq m (100,000 sq ft) with 3,000 seats, and 13 state-of-the-art auditoria, all featuring the most innovative technology in the industry, is expected to be a top five cinema in the UK. It will be complemented by 12 casual dining restaurants all of which will significantly boost the night-time economy of the city centre.

With over 1,400 screens worldwide, National Amusements is the world’s largest privately held cinema company and the parent company of Viacom, which includes Paramount Pictures, MTV, Nickelodeon, CBS Television, Infinity Broadcasting and many other leading entertainment businesses.

Under the leadership of Shari E. Redstone, National Amusements has pioneered the Cinema de Lux concept in the US and Bristol will be National’s first Cinema de Lux in the UK. National has substantial cinema operations throughout the US, Latin America and Russia and has earned a reputation for delivering an unparalleled entertainment experience.

The Alliance’s development, including the new Bristol Cinema de Lux, is proposed to open in Autumn of 2008. The cinema will have a number of luxurious amenities and high-end services that set it apart from the typical cinema experience. Cinema de Lux will feature the latest in cutting edge entertainment such as original programming, digital technologies in the lobby and auditoria and interactive media.

A prominent feature of the Cinema de Lux experience is the exclusive “Director’s Halls”, premium auditoria with Ultra Leather rocking recliners, reserved seating for all performances, live pre-show intros, and deluxe food and beverage services such as the Chatters Lounge. The new cinema will also feature Guest Services, a concierge style service desk that assists patrons with needs such as calling a taxi or making a dinner reservation.

Keith Stone, Bristol Alliance Leasing Director, said: “The letting to National Amusements is another significant milestone for this major one million sq ft retail and leisure development. Our proposals have captured the interest and imagination of national and international retailers and leisure operators and promise to deliver the significant step change that will propel the South West’s capital city into a top ten retail position. Already nearly 50% of the development is either signed or with solicitors, including the 15,800 sq m (170,000 sq ft) House of Fraser anchor store.”

“We are thrilled to introduce Cinema de Lux to the UK,” noted Shari E. Redstone, president, National Amusements, Inc. “We have found that movie-goers really enjoy the first-class entertainment experience that only Cinema de Lux can deliver. We are excited to partner with the Bristol Alliance and we fully expect the Bristol Broadmead project to be one of the most successful cinemas in the UK.”

Letting agents for the Bristol Alliance are Lunson Mitchenall and CBRE.
